    The Position

    JMI is looking for a highly skilled Communications Manager to join our team. It is a multifaceted, engaging position and we require a candidate that is able to translate JMI’s work into compassionate, compelling, media-rich storytelling that creates tangible organisational outcomes.

    The JMI Communications Manager is expected to create and manage content across JMI’s various communication channels. They are responsible for keeping JMI’s portfolio of web and social media assets alive, engaging and impactful. They must be able to combine an analytical marketing mind with hands-on creative writing, graphic design (intermediate to advanced) and video editing (intermediate to advanced) skills.

    The JMI Communications Manager is responsible for ensuring consistency and relevance of the JMI brand and it's program brands across the network, working to bring greater visibility through clear strategy and persistent implementation.

    We are looking for a digital native with an intrinsic understanding of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube) and who is able to help maintain and grow a vibrant online musical communities. The applicant should have a background in music or the music/creative industry and be able to demonstrate the ability to understand and connect with JMI’s audiences.

    The candidate is expected to deliver, on time, innovative work that meets top international standards. The candidate should be well organised, results-driven, and handle well under pressure. A proven track record is a necessity.

    The position is based in Brussels with travel opportunities per year.


    • Brand Management: Oversee the development and deployment of the JMI and JMI program brands.
    • Content Management: Create, coordinate, produce and update visual and written content for JMI’s websites, social media platforms, print publications and newsletters.
    • Social Media Management: Monitor, engage and grow JMI’s social media presence.


    • Advanced Creative Writing Skills.
    • Intermediate - Advanced Graphic Design Sills (Adobe Create Suite).
    • Intermediate - Advanced Video Editing Skills.
    • Social Media Management Experience
    • Marketing Experience
    • Familiarity with popular Content Management Systems.
    • 3-5 Years work experience or the vocational equivalent.
    • Relevant Tertiary Education.
    • Excellent English, written and spoken.

    • The position is full-time (9am to 5pm) based at the JMI Head Office in Brussels, Belgium.
    • JMI is looking for international candidates, who are work from Brussels, Belgium by March 2020. (Relocation costs and costs of separate life are not covered by the employer.)
    • An initial time-based contact of 6 months will be given to the selected candidate after which the employee will be evaluated and the contract extended should the employer be satisfied with the work result.
    • The candidate must be willing and able to travel abroad at least 2-3 times per year.
    • Additional benefits include hospitalisation insurance, mobile phone expenses, meal vouchers (€8 per working day) and local transport costs.
