    The Position

    JMI looks for a highly-skilled Programs Assistant to join the team. It is a multifaceted position and we seek a candidate with a wide range of project management expertise to support the development of the organisation’s programs and activities.

    The JMI Programs Assistant directly supports the work of the JMI Programs Director, overseeing the implementation of JMI’s twelve international programs. The JMI Programs Assistant is expected to have strong organisational skills, an analytical mind and an eye for detail. The candidate must have relevant experience in project and events management within the cultural sector. They should be well organised, result-driven and able to handle well under pressure. Knowledge of grant writing, project life cycle management and reporting are requested.

    The candidate should be technologically proficient and eager to embrace a wide array of popular digital tools. The JMI Programs Assistant must be creative, flexible and able to adapt to a fast-passed work environment, where they may be called on to take up others aspects of cultural management where needed. The candidate must be able to travel and to represent the organisation abroad, working with our international network to make a difference through music. The candidate should preferably have a background in music and/or cultural management.

    • Coordination/Communication with JMI members to ensure programs involved in project grants, and dissemination of project grant information, collection of data, timely preparation of grant reports and adherence to project deadlines.
    • Coordination/sourcing of interns.


    • 5+ Years of work experience or the vocational equivalent.
    • Relevant Tertiary Education.
    • Excellent English, both spoken and written.
    • Project / Organisational management / Grant Writing / Reporting.
    • Strong organisational skills.
    • Basic Knowledge of Graphic Design (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign)
    • Familiarity with common web Content Management Sysytems. (Wordpress, etc)

    • The position is full-time (9am to 5pm), based out of the JMI Head Office in Brussels, Belgium.
    • The candidate must be willing and able to travel abroad at least 2-3 times per year.
    • JMI is looking for international candidates, who are able to work from Brussels, Belgium by March 2020 (relocation costs and costs of separate life are not covered by the employer)
    • An initial 6 months will be given to the selected candidate after which the employee will be evaluated and the contract extended should the employer be satisfied with the work result
    • The JMI Programs Assistant is responsible for sourcing and overseeing the Programs Interns
    • Additional benefits include hospitalisation insurance, monthly allowance for mobile phone expenses, meal vouchers (€8 per office working day) and local transport costs
    • The contract runs until the 31st of December 2021, and will be extended should funding continue.
