The World Youth Choir is back and we are looking for talented singers to take on this life-changing experience. The rehearsal period under the baton of Filippo Maria Bressan (Italy) will take place from July 13th to July 24th in Weikersheim, where the first concert will be held on July 24th. The concert tour will follow next and the choir will tour selected locations in Germany and Belgium until August 2nd. Find out how to apply!
The World Youth Choir (WYC), is a genuine educational and social experience drawing from diverse vocal traditions, aiming for the highest artistic level. Since its creation in 1989, the World Youth Choir has established itself as one of the most interesting musical and intercultural experiences offered to young musicians. About 100 young choral singers from all over the world constitute one of today’s most original and important choirs and year after year the number of participating countries increases. Today, more than 40 different nationalities are present in the choir, assuring that all continents are represented. The World Youth Choir unites young choral singers age 17 to 26 from all over the world to perform a cappella and vocal instrument repertoire, under the artistic direction of world-renowned conductors.
The Summer Session 2016 of the World Youth Choir will take place from July 13th to August 2nd, first at the great venue of the castle Weikersheim, Germany, one of JMI’s World Meeting Centres, and then in a tour of concerts that will take the Choir into an unforgettable experience through Germany and Belgium (details will be confirmed by April 2016).

To apply, you should find a NATIONAL RECRUITER in order to get information about national auditions or, if there is no national audition organised in your country, you have the possibility to REQUEST A DIRECT APPLICATION. In both cases, all the audition material should be submitted to the World Youth Choir no later than March 31st 2016.

We also remind you that all the singers that applied for World Youth Choir Session 2014, or whose application was forwarded by a recruitment partner for this session, have the opportunity to do so using the application material from the last time or submitting new material. If you wish to apply using the material from 2014 please send an email to manager@worldyouthchoir.org informing the management about it and if you wish to submit new material you should follow the procedure for a DIRECT APPLICATION.
A professional international jury will select the best candidates. All candidates will be notified about the result of the selection by April 18th 2016.
Language: Events will be conducted in English. Intermediate level of English is required.
Dates: 13/07/2016 (arrivals) to 02/08/2016 (departures to be confirmed).
Repertoire: mixed secular and sacred repertoire.
Costs: No session participation fee. From arrival to Weikersheim until departure, all accommodation, transportation and the material are provided by the organisation. Selected participants are however responsible for travel to and from the host country/final concert tour destination (all travel details will be communicated with chosen singers directly after the final international selection) and pocket money for their own private expenses.
Other: Selected participants are responsible for full preparation of the chosen repertoire before coming to the session (music material will be sent to all selected singers by mail before the end of May 2016) and visas and all official documents (health and travel insurance, etc.)
