The General Assembly 2016 of the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras (EFNYO) will be held in Paris, from April 21st to April 24th.
It will be hosted by our French member, the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, and organised in cooperation with its general manager, Pierre Barrois, and his assistant Ivanne Desagnat. The meetings will be held at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and at the Nouvelle Philharmonie (Cité de la Musique).
The afternoon session on Thursday 21st will be reserved for the EFNYO Board Meeting.
The morning session on Friday 22nd is open to all members and will focus on internal business such as conference reports, incoming correspondence, finance, membership and networking issues.
The program of the morning session on Saturday 23rd includes presentations and round table discussions with guest speakers of the Association Française des Orchestres (AFO), the Philharmonie de Paris and professional orchestras from France and abroad. AFO will present a highly relevant audience research led among French orchestras. Further presentations of guests will focus on programming for new venues (at the example of the Philharmonie situated outside the city centre), and educational programmes.
The second focus of the General Assembly will be laid on a variety of aspects for developing EFNYO's MusXchange programme beyond 2017. Both afternoon meetings on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd will be dedicated to discussing new strategies and formats based on the feedback of present and future MusXchange partners. The afternoon meetings are open to all EFNYO members who are interested in being involved in the new Cooperation Project for which the EU funding deadline will be October 5th, 2016.
On the morning of Sunday 24th, the board will convene for a "wrap-up" session to design the action plan for 2016/17.
As regards social and musical activities, the conference will traditionally start with a welcome dinner on Thursday 21st hosted by EFNYO on the top floor of the beautiful Nouvelle Philharmonie (opened in January 2015). The option to attend a concert with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the baton of Mikko Franck is also offered.
Furthermore, there will be a guided tour through the complex of the Nouvelle Philharmonie and Cité de la Musique on either Friday or Saturday (time tbc).
See you all in Paris!
