JM Belgium - Flanders
JM Belgium consists of two organizational entities, reflecting the two linguistic communities of Belgium: Jeugd en Muziek Vlaanderen in the Flemish speaking communities, and Jeunesses Musicales Wallonie-Bruxelles, responsible for the French speaking communities.
Jeugd en Muziek is a music education organization for, by and with young people. With a reach of more than 300,000 children and youth, it is the largest cultural education organization in Flanders and offers a wide range of activities. For young audiences in large cultural venues, on small stages, in schools and in classrooms across Flanders, Jeugd en Muziek produces colourful concerts with performances by professional Belgian and international artists.
Jeugd en Muziek is furthermore committed to ‘creating platforms that bring established musicians and youth together’, with music camps and music days organized within the local sections, eight youth orchestras, workshops, and masterclasses; as well with projects such as Imagine.
The Flemish section realizes its objectives thanks to the efforts of many youth and older volunteers in local sections and in cooperation with Belgian and international partners, including important contacts built via the JMI network and thanks to partnerships with international education organizations.
