JM Sweden organises school concerts tours with Swedish and international musicians as well as seminars and conferences on issues concerning music and children. Music events organised by JM Sweden include the international folk music camp Ethno, and the Imagine Festival Musik Direkt, Sweden's biggest music competition open for young musicians of all genres.
Ethno is built on a concept where young musicians of traditional and ethnic music are sharing their culture with other musicians. During an intense week almost 100 musicians from all over the world are teaching each other the music of their own country. The bonds that are made during this week become incredibly strong and the power of the Ethno concept has influenced people in several countries to start other Ethno camps with Ethno Sweden as a role model.
The Imagine Festival Musik Direkt has been running for more than 20 years, and has since the start been constantly growing - in 2007 more than 5000 young musicians were participating. The musical level at the national final is really high, and several of the finalists and winners have become successful musicians during the years. Musik Direkt is the model for the big JMI project Music Crossroads.
For 15 years JM Sweden has been running Orkester Norden, the large Nordic youth symphony orchestra that every summer tours Scandinavia and Europe. However, in 2008 the Orkester Norden left JM Sweden and is now hosted in Kristiansand, Norway.
