The primary activity of JM Ukraine is the prestigious International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz. The first competition was held in 1995 with the purpose of paying a tribute to the memory of the great pianist Vladimir Horowitz, one of the most brilliant musicians of the 20th century; overcoming the lack of information in the area of professional performance culture in Ukraine; creating the conditions for supporting talented creative youth; identifying, assisting and promoting young performers' development; developing cultural links between Ukraine and other countries; promoting Ukrainian piano compositions and performance traditions; and providing teachers, pianists and gifted youth the opportunity to exchange experiences at an international level, therefore contributing to the development of musical education and performance in future.
852 young pianists from 40 countries have taken part in the competition so far. Numerous tours of its prize-winners who have gained acclaim in Australia, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Georgia, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom and USA have made a great contribution to the development of the Competition.
The International Festival "Kyiv Summer Music Evenings" founded in 1998 and organized by JM Ukraine provides thousands of citizens and guests of Kyiv and Chernigiv with the opportunity to enjoy the classical and modern pieces of music.
Concerts include Symphonic, Chamber, Folk, Wind Orchestra, Choral and Jazz works, with groups and soloists from Armenia, Austria, Belarus, China, Croatia, France, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA and Yugoslavia.
The International festival "Virtuosos of the Planet" was initiated by the International Charitable Fund of Vladimir Horowitz competition and was held for the first time in 2006. It is a unique project because representatives of the planet's performing elite, first prize-winners of the most prestigious world competitions perform within the framework of one Festival.
In the first Festival 12 soloists participated from seven countries (France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Italy, Ukraine and USA ), representing many international competitions (e.g. International competition "Citta di Porcia", International Nicolo Paganini Competition, International Competition "de la Vitta de Paris" and etc.).
In the second Festival in 2007 10 soloists have taken part from eight countries (Belgium, China, Finland, France, Italy, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine), representing the Printemps de la Guitare competition, International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz, Leeds International Pianoforte Competition, International Violin Competition "Rodolfo Lipizer Prize", Cleveland International Piano Competition, Carl Nielsen International competition, Prague Spring International Competition, the Geza Anda piano competition, Pretoria Voice Competition, Maria Kallas Grand Prix.
