This summer Engelbert Humperdinck set the opera "Hänsel und Gretel" to music.

During several summer weeks the opera project – the most prominent of the international summer classes at the World Meeting Center of JMI Weikersheim – enfolds a world of its own – in front of, on and behind the stage. In 2017 the romantic opera "Hänsel und Gretel" from E.Humperdinck will enchant participants and audience.
Young Opera is being produced in Weikersheim since 1965. Every two years the glittering open-air-performance enthuse more than 10.000 spectators in the wonderful setting of Schloss Weikersheim. The Young Opera Schloss Weikersheim presents rising stars, artists at the beginning of their career.
The International Opera Academy is one of the most important projects in Europe for the promotion of young Opera singers. For the production of “Hänsel und Gretel” more then 200 singers from over 20 countries had show up at the World Meeting Center to be auditioned. Artistic Director 2017 is the young conductor Patrick Lange. He will conduct the German National Youth Orchestra.
