Get ready to grace the international music scene in this inspiring musical and intercultural experience, aiming at the highest artistic level!

Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) together with Jeunesses Musicales Croatia (JM Croatia) invite you to join the 2015 edition of the JM Jazz World Orchestra. This time were in Croatia and musicians can look forward to one week of jazzy fun together with top young international jazz musicians before touring and performing at some of Europe's most famous Jazz Festivals. With an artistic scope that is in itself a major achievement, the JMJW also represents for its members a unique experience in terms of personal relationships building, intercultural learning and exchange.

We are excited to announce that Luis Bonilla (USA) has been selected to lead this year's JM Jazz World Orchestra. Bonilla, a California raised, Costa Rican trombonist, composer and arranger, has taken in and mastered an incredible array of musical styles. His success as a sideman of such greats as McCoy Tyner, Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Bowie, Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard, Astrud Gilberto, Willie Colon and Toshiko Akiyoshi attests not only to the skill and variety of Bonilla's talent, but also to a mind restlessly committed to exploring some of the most complex and demanding music of our time. He is a member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra under Arturo OFarrill's direction (both 2009 Grammy winners) and the group Dave Douglas & Brass Ecstasy. Alongside a busy performance/masterclass schedule year-round, Bonilla is a faculty member of the Manhattan School of Music and New England Conservatory.

"I feel timing and opportunity have come together for a major impact in the Jazz industry. The fresh new sounds a Global Youth Jazz Orchestra can offer today will rival any new music project in today's market. We will be fresh!!"
L. Bonilla

The JM Jazz World Orchestra is looking for talented musicians between the ages of 18 and 25 playing: Saxophone, trombone, trumpet, horn, tuba, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, piano and vocals. It is essential you read sheet music, but the most important thing is your love for playing jazz music!

The plan is to meet in Groznjan on the 2nd of July to socialize, play and work together to create the best young big band the world has ever seen. July 7th we set off on tour with concerts planned in Belgium, Croatia, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovenia.

About JM Jazz World

The JM Jazz World program is JMI's international platform for jazz and youth. It covers the JM Jazz World Orchestra, international summer jazz camps, projects, other ensembles, tours and exchanges between JMI member countries. Its objectives are to increase youth participation in and outreach of jazz music (in its broadest sense). The program also aims to provide young jazz musicians with the possibility to gain experience working under the highest professional standards, to perform at major concert halls, theatres and festivals, and to collaborate with outstanding jazz musicians from around the world.

About the JM Jazz World Orchestra

The JM Jazz World Orchestra (JMJWO) is Jeunesses Musicales International’s premier international jazz ensemble, bringing together the world's best young jazz talents each year under the artistic leadership of the planet's coolest cats for a one-of-a-kind tour to knock your socks off!
Officially formed in 2012, the orchestra brings together annually 20 of the world’s top young professional jazz musicians to form an amazing big bang with an internationally diverse repertoire. Aiming at the highest artistic level, young musicians from all around the world are selected through an open global audition by a professional jury.
The JMJWO works with a different internationally renowned artistic director each year, guiding the orchestra and shaping it with their own unique approach. Previous artistic directors include Sigi Feigel/Austria (2012), Frank Vaganée/Belgium (2013), Erlend Skomsvoll/Norway (2014) and Luis Bonilla/USA (2015).
Each JMJWO session begins with an intense week of rehearsal and workshops where band members get to know one another and the artistic director through a process of artistic and personal discovery. After fusing creativity and cultures the orchestra sets off on a tour to perform at some of the best gigs there are.
With an artistic scope that is in itself a major achievement, the JM Jazz Orchestra also represents a unique experience in terms of personal relationship building, intercultural learning and exchange.
JM Jazz World will take place in Groznjan , Croatia 2. 7. – 7. 7. 2015.
