The world’s premier jazz big band for rising stars, the JM Jazz World Orchestra, under the direction of the illustrious US/Costa Rican trombonist Luis Bonilla, has delivered an unforgettable musical journey with their remarkable debut album: "Jazz Pops/Pop Swings".

The album perfectly captures the vibrant energy and talent of the JM Jazz World Orchestra's young musicians (all under 26 years of age), hailing from diverse corners of the globe. It presents 10 stunning tracks, a unique collection that reimagines popular music over the past century, alongside marvellous original compositions by Bonilla. Along the way, you will meet the likes of Roberta Flack, Donny Hathaway, Carole King, George Michael, Patsy Cline, and Ariana Grande. The JM Jazz World skillfully combines the infectious rhythms and melodies of these timeless classics with the ultimate sophistication that only a big band can deliver.

This sensational release stands as testament to the orchestra's own journey over the past 15 years. Luis Bonilla, the JM Jazz World Orchestra’s artistic director, captures its essence saying “The eagerness and desire to perform at the highest level has little to do with age or experience”. Bonilla is a renowned composer, educator and is an internationally recognised force in several musical worlds. He was mentored by the great Lester Bowie during his time as trombonist in Bowie’s Brass Fantasy. He has been a member of Phil Collins, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra under Arturo O’Farrill, the Mingus Big Band, Dave Douglas’s Brass Ecstasy. Since 2005, the JM Jazz World has come together annually during the European summer to rehearse and tour the continent. Musicians are carefully selected from around the world, with only the highest level of musicianship chosen to participate.
