These past months Jeunesses Musicales Norway has received 35 applications for its Parked Piano project, which has given the opportunity to expand the project with 13 more pianos across the country.
Last August the first piano for the project was placed at Østbanehallen in Oslo. The goal of the project is to create spontaneous musical moments and performances in public spaces where passersby are encouraged to participate.
Now 13 more locations will receive their own piano which is to be placed in a public space for three years. One of the criteria for the institutions involved in the project is that they have a clear plan for how the pianos are to be used – preferably projects and performances involving young musicians.
This spring from March to May the pianos will be “parked” and an official opening will be held.
