JM International would like to officially announce the 9th edition of the YAMawards (Young Audiences Music Awards) is now open and officially accepting nominations. The international awards honour creativity and innovation in the field of musical productions for young audiences, celebrating the art of connecting young people and children with music and culture in ways that inspire, enlighten and delight.
Participation is open to all music-based live productions for audiences up to 18 years of age. Whether soloist, group, ensemble or orchestra, the main criteria are: Quality of Music, Quality of Performance, Relevance/Necessity of the Program, Audience Communication and International Touring Potential. Due to the awards’ growth and artistic exigency, this year’s YAMAs will be open to 3 distinct categories each with their own winner: Best Small Ensemble for young audiences, Best Large Ensemble for young audiences and Best Opera for young audiences. On top of these accolades, cash prizes will be presented to the Production of the Year and Public Choice Award that will be selected from amongst the top 4 nominees in each category.
The YAMAs are governed by international juries composed of young audiences professionals from JM International (JMI) and RESEO (the European Network for Opera & Dance Education). The 2018 YAMA nominees will be announced on September 17, 2018 where they will be placed online and open to public voting.
The winners are to be announced at the YAMAwards Ceremony that will take place in Santiago de Compostela, Spain on the 17th of October 2018 during the YAMsession at the Cidade da Cultura. This international music conference, held from the 17th to the 19th of October, includes international showcases, a producer’s forum and a host of provocative talks, encounters and debates between creative professionals working in the field of young audiences music development.
