Tenso: Open calls for singers, composers, conductors!

Jeunesses Musicales International is happy to promote three open calls for artists launched by Tenso, the European Network for Professional Chamber Choirs.

In Tenso Network Europe, the joint efforts and achievements of the most prominent European chamber choirs are combined and disseminated within the context of a growing European network. Since its foundation in 2003, the mission of Tenso has been directed to present new choral music to young audiences, to coach young performers and composers and to develop the choral repertoire. By involving amateurs and young choirs in their projects, the ultimate purpose is to expand the community of choral singers and audiences for choral music all over Europe.

TENSO YOUNG COMPOSERS WORKSHOP 2016

About:
The next edition of Tenso Young Composers Workshop will be held during Tenso Days Mechelen 2016. Five young composers will be working with Latvijas Radio Koris, James Wood and Leo Samama. Using a score as a starting point, the goal of the workshop is to make room for a significant contribution from all participants and to explore various elements such as dramatic effects, vocal range and colour, text setting and other compositional tools.

When and where:
13-15 May 2016, Mechelen (Belgium)

TENSO MASTERCLASS FOR CONDUCTORS 2016

About: 
As the next step in its talent development programme, Tenso organizes a series of masterclasses for conductors. Tenso Masterclass for Conductors (TMC) wants to encourage young conductors to take on choral music, working both on standard repertoire and on recent and contemporary pieces, in reading sessions, and in rehearsal settings working with a professional chamber choir.

When and where: 
The first sessions will take place during Tenso Days Mechelen from 13 to 15 May 2016. Later sessions will take place in Helsinki and Amsterdam (schedule subject to change).

TENSO EUROPE CHAMBER CHOIR 2016

About:
Tenso Europe Chamber Choir aims to bring together young professional singers from all over Europe for a summer of coaching and performances, creating a link between young singers and professionalism, and providing them with a valuable experience of what it is like to be part of a professional vocal ensemble. The choir consists of 24 who will be allowed to participate three years in a row. During the summer school they receive intensive training, both individually and in groups.

When and where: 
Summer school: 10-20 July, Berlin
European Concert Tour: 21-24 July
Reprise with conductor Paul Hillier: 22-28 August, Helsinki (dates to be confirmed)
